The mausoleum – gaelic - Caibael Mheamhair- chapel of remembrance – is situated near the east shore of Loch Buie approx
1.5km from MoyCastle.
It is rectangular in shape having internal dimensions of 10.7m W-E and 4.6m N-S with walls 0.7m thick. The construction
is of random stone with Carsaig sandstone dressings.
There are windows in the N, W and S walls which are of medieval age. The East end was rebuilt in 1864 and houses the
mausoleum built to commemorate Donald MacLaine, 22nd of Lochbuie. The roof is believed to be of the same date. Further restoration was carried out in 1972.
The first recorded burial dates to 1701

The upper portion of what is thought to be a medieval font, carved from Carsaig sandstone which would originally have
stood on a pedestal.
A broken sandstone slab with inscribed shield bearing Campbell insignia possible commemorating Murdoch MacLaine, 10th
Lochbuy who died c 1662
A table tomb with the inscription:
'Here lyeth the body of Barron Lauchlan McLean of Lochbuie who died anno 1701 aged ?7 and was the first of the lairds
of Lochbuy that was buried in this chapel – erected by his eldest son Barron Hector McLean of Lochbuy anno domini 1717'
A table tomb with the inscription:
'This lair is erected by Barron Murdoch McLean of Lochbuie at the desire of Mrs annaCampbel, daughter of Sir Hugh
Campbel of Calder his lady, to be for their use and their heirs in all time coming. Erected anno domini 1717'
A table tomb with the inscription:
'Here lies the body of Margaret Campbel Lady Lochbuy who departed this lifeApril the 9th 1717 aged 61. Erected at the desire and expense of Barron Hector McLean of Lochbuy her husband anno 1717'
